I took the service of Mountain Adventure Tours and Travels for booking the cab for the entire trip, starting from pick up from Bagdogra Airport to Kurseong, sight seeing for the next couple of days and then drop from Darjeeling to Bagdogra Airport. The entire 4-5 days trip was tension free for us. Cab was always available as per the agreed time. Neat and clean cab with professional and friendly driver. Sandakphu trek and Darjeeling Kunal has provided an excellent service throughout the booking process. We changed itineraries several times before settling with the 4 day Sandakphu trek. He was patient and kept providing various options. The lodge and hut accommodation for the first 2 nights was clean. Robin and Kunal were great guides for the trek. Unfortunately we had to cut the trek short due to the continuous rain and poor visibility and they both organized our transport back smoothly and dealt with the logistics involved with various cars. They guided us well for the 2 days we trekked and were patient at my pace of hiking. They provided bags for transferring our luggage to make it easier to transport on ponies. I highly recommend Mountain Adventure for all your treks in areas around Darjeeling and Sikkim.

Kunal and Rajesh were amazing. They catered to all of our needs. Kunal specifically looked after us through the trek and was always smiling whilst providing insights to the history of darjeeling and info on flora and fauna. Robin our guide was similarly insightful. We had to cut our trek short due to inclement weather and they expertly organised the relevant transport - which was not straight forward given our location at 3600+ meters. Highly recommend and wish them all the best.

Our Mountain Tour driver/guide Pawan was simply far better than you can ever imagine. Cheerful, fun, with a sparkle and lovely willingness to take us everywhere. Hiking, walking, to temples, at whatever hour Great command of English. And he would always try again if our phrasing was obscure. Solid knowledge of local history and culture. He never tired of our endless questions about Sikkim, local village life, British influence, tea gardens, and Darjeeling. A talented storyteller, we learned many local anecdotes. Always prompt as well, absolutely dependable. Pawan was always on time and always flexible with making sure the schedule was working for us. Pawan is a terrific driver; On these narrow, rugged hill roads it is a true skill, He always made impossible driving conditions look effortless. And the car was extremely comfortable! He paid such close attention to what my wife and I were doing at all times, trying to make sure we were safe, out of traffic, and ready to assist in any possible way. Always with humor and grace. He truly loves the Himalayan foothills and Sikkim. He loves his job and is so thrilled to share this with the world. With humor and excitement. We got to meet the owner Rajesh on our final day. It was a pleasure to meet him as well. Clearly proud of the work he does arranging the itineraries. We saw SO many glorious views of Kachenjunga and other significant places. If you really want to experience the area at a local, intimate human level, I highly recommend that you contact Mountain Adventures Travel and Tour as they really seem to have this down. We were advised by dear Bengali friends who now live in Philly to “Keep your hearts and minds open.” Suspend all expectations; it will be so worthwhile. Sikkim and Darjeeling are a very different place, with different sensibilities and different customs. Discovering this is the unique magic we hope for while traveling. If you expect everything to be the way it is “back home or at "Disneyland” it will be hard. It is the way it is here. And that is so special. Deep contrasts everywhere. Come and explore the place. Meet the people. They are warm and sincere beyond belief. Pawan tell us “There is no crime in Sikkim.” I believe it. I hope you will grow to admire and love the foothills of the Himalayas and their peoples as much as we did. The Buddhist philosophy of peace and mindfulness pervades everything and is a great inspiration. Do go trekking a bit or at least visit Lake Tsomgo (Chomgo). Mountain Tours can arrange something you’ll love. Bring water and plenty of layers. Drink plenty of water for the altitude. Sikkim is a Green state and tissues are often in short supply. But the payoffs of walks are tremendous.
