This amazing Upper Mustang Mountain Bike tour is one of the most fascinating adventure cycling tours in the hidden Kingdom of Lo (Upper Mustang). It is one of the physical and cultural mountain biking tours in the Upper Mustang region, which is quite tough to drive on a Jeep road due to its high altitude and village trails. This awe-inspiring adventure offers us to explore the ancient kingdom of Lo Manthang with its amazing to know history. It is really amazing to get chances to discovers this unique place of ancient Buddhist and Tibetan culture and traditions along with old gompas and monasteries with incredible century old art hanging on the walls.

DAY 1: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264ft).

Our representative will welcome you to the amazing city, Kathmandu. Greet you and transfer you to your hotel. Stroll around the vibrant streets of Thamel. Enjoy a welcome dinner with our team. Overnight at a 3-star hotel in Kathmandu.

DAY 2: Permits Procedure and afternoon flight to Pokhara.

Morning breakfast. Take permits for traveling in the restricted areas of the Himalayas. Take the afternoon flight to Pokhara. Enjoy flying over the villages, the lush hills, and the mountains that make up for a breath-taking view. Arrive at Pokhara, we will transfer you to the hotel. Enjoy the evening strolling and doing recreational activities in the Lakeside area. Overnight at a 3-star hotel in Pokhara.

DAY 3: Fly from Pokhara to Jomsom (2710m), 20 minutes and a biking trip to Kagbeni (2800m).

Early morning breakfast. Drive to the airport and take the first flight to Jomsom (20minutes). Flying through the deepest gorge in the world, Kali Gandaki, the Pokhara-Jomsom flight marks the sweet beginning of the adventurous trek. Assemble our mountain bikes in Jomsom. Begin our adventurous journey, biking to Kagbeni. Riding in the Kali Gandaki Gorge, we follow the jeep trail to reach Kagbeni. Visit the red painted Gumba which is about 1000 years old and explores other areas as well. Stay overnight in the lodge.

DAY 4: Biking Trip from Kagbeni to Muktinath (3800m).

Morning breakfast. Early morning enjoys with the breathtaking views of the sunrise and golden glow on the white snowy peak. Enjoying and taking some good pictures. Start biking uphill to Muktinath on jeep track. Have lunch in Jharkot where we can explore different monasteries and local people along with their culture. We continue ascending uphill till we reach the holy temple of Muktinath. Stay overnight in the lodge.

DAY 5: Biking Trip from Muktinath to Chele (3050m), Distance: 18Km.

Morning breakfast. Visit the Muktinath temple for the morning puja. Continue riding to the mysterious land of Upper Mustang. Ascend uphill to Gyu La Pass (4077m) and then descend to Chhusang. Ride through the bumpy roads near the banks of Kali Gandaki River and cross a bridge. Continue to ride uphill to reach Chele, a small village. Enjoy with the spectacular view of Mt. Nilgiri (7061m) and Kaligandaki gorge from a different angle. Explore some old buildings and monasteries. Stay overnight in a lodge.

DAY 6: Biking Trip from Chele to Syangboche (3800m), Distance: 20km.

Morning breakfast. Continue ride and move towards the north with the magnificent views of the Himalayas. Enjoy with an amazing view of the places and the landscape as we move uphill. Explore four passes in between Chele and Syangboche—Taklam La (3624m), Dajori La (3735m), Bhena La (3860m), and Yamdo La (3860m). Stop in Samarand rest some time and again continue to ride towards Syangboche. Meet local people and get to know about their lifestyle and culture. Witness ponies and donkeys along the way. Stay overnight in Lodge.

DAY 7: Biking Trip from Syangboche to Tsarang (3560m), Distance: 22 km.

Morning breakfast. Continue ride, make a short climb to reach Syangboche La Pass (3850m). Get an amazing view of Nilgiri (7061m) and the Annapurna massif from the Syangboche La Pass. We will then ride on the plain trail then descend to Gilling then ascend through some gorgeous villages. Cross Nya La Pass (4025m), and descend to Ghami via Ghami La Pass (3765m) to enjoy the Tibetan food. Cross Mani walls, an old monastery, and then the village of Drakmar, and finally arrive in Tsarang. Stay overnight in Lodge.

DAY 8: Biking Trip from Tsarang to Lo-Manthang (3800m), Distance: 20Km.

Morning breakfast. Today, we will finally reach our destination of Lo-Manthang, the mysterious enclosed city of rich Buddhist heritage and also the walled capital of the former 'Kingdom of Lo'. Continue relatively easy ride and cross Lo La Pass (3950m). Experience amazing and breathtaking 360-degree view of the mountains. Ride on the open jeep ways and some trekking lines. Finally reach Lo-Manthang after about half an hour. Stay overnight in Lodge.

DAY 9: In and Around Lo-Manthang (3800m).

Morning breakfast. Get the opportunity to explore the captivating Lo-Manthang with its centuries-old Gumba, the Royal Fortress, inhabited caves, museum, and antique Buddhist ways of life. Take colorful amazing pictures of deserts with the mountains on the backdrop. Discover the heirs of the former King and Queen of Lo and learn about the folklore of the region. Stay overnight in Lodge.

DAY 10: Biking Trip from Lo-Manthang to Ghami (3510m) via Ghar Gompa.

Morning breakfast. Enjoy bid farewell to this amazing place and head back on some new single-track routes. Cross three passes La (3950m), Chogo La (4280m), and Mui La (4170m). Cross Ghami, and arrive in Ghar Gompa, an ancient monastery and the most sacred one for Lo Nying Sect of Buddhism. Discovered scriptures of Padmasambhava in Ghar Gompa. Continue to ride down to Dhakmar and finally to Ghami. Stay overnight in Lodge.

DAY 11: Biking Trip from Ghami to Samar (3620m), Distance: 32Km

Morning breakfast. Retrace the route from Ghami to Samar. Cross five passes and several small streams on the way to Samar. Continue to ride and pass many small villages, monasteries, and barley fields, and arrive in Syangboche. Finally, reach to Chungsi Cave as we ride alongside Syangboche Khola. Cross Jhuwa Khola and Samarkyuno Khola to finally reach Samar. Stay overnight in Lodge.

DAY 12: Biking Trip from Samar to Marpha (2670m), Distance: 30km

Morning breakfast. Continue ride early in the morning with small ascend to Dajori La Pass (3735m) and then ride downhill to Chele. We will ride along the banks of Kali Gandaki River to Kagbeni and have lunch in either Chhusang or Kagbeni. After lunch, we ride back along the Kali Gandaki Valley to our initial point in Jomsom. Then we’ll ride through beautiful apple orchards to the lovely village of Marpha. Explore the Marpha village which is famous for its Apple brandy or other by-products. Stay overnight in Lodge.

DAY 13: Biking Trip from Marpha to Tatopani (1190m), Distance: 45Km

Morning breakfast. Explore some of Marpha, the monasteries, the cheese factory, and the traditional whitewashed houses. Ride toward a more subtropical region along the Kali Gandaki River. Descend all the way with amazing green landscape and the peaks of snow-capped mountains that accompany us throughout the trek. Ride towards Tatopani where you can relax in the natural hot spring to release your body strains and skin ailments. Stay overnight in Lodge.

DAY 14: Biking Trip from Tatopani to Beni (1000m), Distance: 18Km, then Drive to Pokhara.

Morning breakfast. Continue ride along the river banks on a jeep track to Beni Bazaar. It's now time to say goodbye to your riding partner—the bike. Drive back to Pokhara and transfer to the hotel. Stroll and shop around the amazing lakeside and also enjoy the nightlife here. Overnight at a 3-star hotel in Pokhara.

DAY 15: Fly from Pokhara to Kathmandu for 25 minutes.

Morning breakfast. Drive to Pokhara airport and take the flight back to Kathmandu. During the 25 minutes flight offers you picturesque views of Annapurna massif, Lamjung Himal, Manaslu range, Ganesh Himal range, and Langtang Himal. Arrival in Kathmandu and transfer to the hotel. Rest and stroll in the local markets of Kathmandu. Enjoy farewell dinner with our team. Overnight at a 3-star hotel.

DAY 16: Kathmandu rests day and enjoys farewell dinner.

Morning breakfast. Half day visit major world heritage sites of Kathmandu such as; Royal Kathmandu Durbar Square, Pashupatinath temple, Syambhunath, and Boudhanath stupa. Can do shopping in Thamel Bazaar. Enjoy farewell dinner celebrating the completion of the birdwatching tour with our team. Overnight at the same hotel.

DAY 17: Departure

Morning breakfast and hotel. Our representative will drop you at the airport 3 hours before the flight time. We hope to see you again. Wish you a safe flight.

Terms & Conditions


Booking

Your contract is with Mountain Adventure Tours & Travels. A contract exists between us when we have confirmed you on our tour / hotel booking / or any other travel related services of your choice and we have received your booking request and deposits. All correspondence/s in respect of Tours / Travel Service bookings should be addressed to Mountain Adventure Tours & Travels.

Payments

For the services contracted, 40 % advance payment should be made to hold the booking on a confirmed basis and the balance amount should be paid before commencement of your tour. We hold the right to decide upon the amount to be paid as an advance payment, based on the nature of services and the time left for the commencement of the services.

Payment Options

Payment can be made by Bank Transfer, Cash payment to our office or by Demand Draft / Cheque. All payments should be free and clear of any withholding tax and deduction. Bank charges, if any, for remittance (by remitting bank or by intermediary bank) would be strictly borne by payer.

Rights to amend the itinerary if required

Tour once commenced will strictly go as per the itinerary finalised. In case of events and circumstances beyond our control, we reserve the right to change all or parts of the contents of the itinerary for safety and well being of our esteemed passengers.

Policy Regarding Cancellation / No Show / Early Departure

In case of cancellation of tour/travel services due to any avoidable/unavoidable reason/s we must be informed in writing. Cancellation charges would be effective from the date we receive letter in writing and cancellation charges would be as follows:

  • 30 days & prior to arrival – 10% of the tour/service cost.
  • 20 days to 18 days prior to arrival – 20% of the tour/service cost.
  • 14 days to 16 days prior to arrival – 25% of the tour/service cost.
  • 10 days to 08 days prior to arrival – 50% of the tour/service cost.
  • 07 days & less, prior to arrival or no show – NO REFUND.

Please note – Irrespective of above mentioned cancellations slabs – in case of cancellation of tour services after the booking is made with us – a minimum 10% service charges would be applicable.

Refund

In case you cancel the trip after commencement refund would be restricted to a limited amount that too would depend on the amount that we would be able to recover from the hoteliers we patronize. For unused hotel accommodation, chartered transportation and missed meals etc. we do not bear any responsibility to refund.

Where as in case of Cancellation before the commencement, it will take atleast two weeks time to refund the said amount.

Our Liabilities & Limitations

Please note that after the finalization of the tour/service cost, if there are any hikes in entrance fees of monuments/museums, taxes, fuel cost or guide charges by the Govt. of India, the same would be charged as extra.

Mountain Adventure Tours & Travels act only in the capacity of agent for the hotels, airlines, transporters, railways & contractors providing other services & all exchange orders, receipts, contracts & tickets issued by us are issued subject to terms & conditions under which these services are provided by them.

All itineraries are sample itineraries, intended to give you a general idea of the likely trip schedule. Numerous factors such as weather, road conditions, the physical ability of the participants etc. may dictate itinerary changes either before the tour or while on the trail. We reserve the right to change any schedule in the interest of the trip participants’ safety, comfort & general well being.

Our rates are based on the prevailing rates as negotiated by us with the hotels, airlines etc. Hotels and Airlines retain the right to modify the rates without notice. In case of such changes the rates quoted before the modification, can be changed by us according to the modifications by hotels or airlines. All hotel bookings are based on usual check in and checkout time of the hotels until unless indicated in the itinerary.

We shall not be responsible for any delays & alterations in the programme or expenses incurred – directly or indirectly – due to natural hazards, flight cancellations, accident, breakdown of machinery or equipments, breakdown of transport, weather, sickness, landslides, political closures or any untoward incidents.

We shall not be responsible for any loss, injury or damage to person, property, or otherwise in connection with any accommodation, transportation or other services, resulting – directly or indirectly – from any act of GOD, dangers, fire, accident, breakdown in machinery or equipment, breakdown of transport, wars, civil disturbances, strikes, riots, thefts, pilferages, epidemics, medical or custom department regulations, defaults, or any other causes beyond our control.

We do not have any insurance policy covering the expenses for accident, sickness, loss due to theft, or any other reasons. Visitors are advised to seek such insurance arrangements in their home country. All baggage & personal property/s at all times are at the client’s risk.

Passports & Visas

To travel to India from overseas countries except for the citizen of Nepal & Bhutan, one needs a 06 months valid passport and a valid Visa. And processing of Passport and Visa are not included in the tour cost.

Health

Any person who has a contagious disease is forbidden to travel, any person found during the tour with such a disease will be asked to leave the tour and will have to make their own arrangements to return home.
