Explore Kolkata's heritage and continue into the eastern Himalayas on this 14-day journey through West Bengal and Sikkim. Discover iconic landmarks such as Victoria Memorial, Howrah Bridge, Mother House, and St. Paul's Cathedral before heading to Darjeeling for sunrise at Tiger Hill. Trek along the Singalila Ridge through forests, villages, and high camps to Sandakphu and Phalut, with panoramic views of Kanchenjunga, Everest, Lhotse, and Makalu. The tour concludes with cultural visits in Pelling, Martham, Gangtok, and Kalimpong, blending city heritage, monastery visits, and high-altitude trekking.

DAY 1: Arrival in Kolkata International airport

Arrive at Kolkata International Airport and meet the representative & Drive to the hotel Learn about West Bengal’s contribution to art, craft, literature, dance, and music Understand the historical importance of Kolkata before, during, and after British rule Observe the colonial influence in the architecture of monuments, palaces, and historical buildings. Check in to the hotel and spend the rest of the day at leisure. Overnight stay in Kolkata.

DAY 2: Explore Kolkata

Early Morning Visit the flower market early in the morning, known as India’s largest flower market Visit Mother House and learn about Mother Teresa’s humanitarian work Visit St. Paul's Cathedral, the first Episcopal Church in Asia Explore Victoria Memorial, a magnificent architectural landmark Drive to Howrah Bridge, one of the busiest bridges in the world Take a short walk at Mullick Ghat, a historic riverside location Visit the residence of Rabindranath Tagore Explore Kumartuli, the traditional potters’ quarter Walk past colonial buildings including High Court, St. John’s Church, Black Hole Monument, Writer’s Building, Governor House, and General Post Office Experience a sunset Ganga river cruise Return to the hotel Explore New Market in the evening, established in 1874. Overnight stay in Kolkata.

DAY 3: Kolkata - Bagdogra airport - Darjeeling

After breakfast, Check out from hotel & transfer to Kolkata airport and fly to Bagdogra airport. Arrival at Bagdogra Airport & transfer to Darjeeling (approx. 80 km & 03 hours drive). Darjeeling, one of the most beautiful hill station is generally called the “Queens of the hills”. It has all attributes of a queen like glamour and beauty of evergreen hills around, green tea gardens at her feet and Mt. Kanchenjunga as her crown. In Sanskrit, Durjaya linga means “Shiva of invincible power who rules the Himalayas”. Darjeeling is northern district of West Bengal, which shares its border with Sikkim in the north, Nepal in the west, Bhutan in the east and Bangladesh and plains of Bengal in the south. On arrival, check-in to hotel & rest of the day at leisure. Overnight stay will be at Darjeeling.

DAY 4: Explore Darjeeling

Early morning (@04:00AM), drive to the Tiger hill. Situated at an altitude of 8442 ft. Tiger hill has earned international fame for the magnificent view of the sunrise. The majestic peak Kanchenjunga (8596 mtrs) rears up flanked by Mt.Kabru and Mt Pandim to the far left are Everest, Makalu and Lhotse. Other peaks visible from here are Mt. Jano, Mt. Nar sing, Mt. Frey peak, Mt. Sinolchu etc. After Tiger Hill, visit Yiga Choling Monastery of Ghoom & back to hotel. After breakfast visit Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, P.N. Zoological Park (Thursday closed), Tibetan Refugee Self Help Center and then Tea Garden (Happy Valley). Evening free for Local market Overnight at Darjeeling.

DAY 5: Darjeeling - Dhotry | Drive Trek to Gairibas

After breakfast, check out from the hotel Transfer to Dhotry. Begin trek to Gairibas (approximately 14 kilometres). 

Overnight stay at Treker Hut / Camp.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner.

DAY 6: Gairibas - Sandakphu and Chandu | Trek

After breakfast, trek to Sandakphu via Singalila Ridge Ascend through steep trails and forest clearings Walk through rhododendron forests to reach the ridge Enjoy panoramic Himalayan views including Kanchenjunga, Everest, Lhotse, and Makalu. Have lunch at Sandakphu. Continue gradual walk to Chandu campsite. Overnight stay at camp at an altitude of 11,715 feet.

DAY 7: Sandakphu - Sabargam | Trek

After breakfast, trek to Sabargam Walk along the Singalila Ridge between India and Nepal Pass through chestnut, oak, and silver fir forests Enjoy panoramic Himalayan views throughout the day Observe rhododendrons and primulas in spring. Camp overnight at Sabargam at 11,601 feet.

DAY 8: Sabargam to Phalut | Trek

After breakfast, trek to Phalut (approximately 9 kilometres) Walk along an undulating ridge trail Enjoy close views of Kanchenjunga and distant views of Everest range Reach Phalut at 11,810 feet Visit the nearby viewpoint surrounded by Himalayan peaks. Camp overnight at Phalut.

DAY 9: Phalut - Gorkhey | Trek

After breakfast, We enjoy a full day of trekking along an undulating trail to the end of the ridge at Gorkhey, where we descend to Gorkhey (approx. 15 kms). The trail down to Gorkhey is glorious and takes us through forests of oak, conifers, pine and rhododendrons, an explosion of colour in spring. Sleeping altitude: 8,135ft. Overnight stay will be at Gorkhey.

DAY 10: Gorkhey - Srikhola Hike| Drive - Pelling

Today would be the last day of your trek you will walk from Gorkhey to Srikhola. En-route you shall pass through quaint hamlets and their farmlands. Upon arrival in Srikhola. After Lunch transfer to Pelling by car (approx. 95 km). On arrival, check-in to hotel & rest of the day at leisure. Overnight stay will be at Pelling.

DAY 11: Pelling - Martham

After breakfast check out from hotel & transfer to Martham. Enroute visit visit Chenrezig Sky Walk, Visit Sanga Choeling Monastery, Pemayangtse Monastery, Rabdentse Ruins, Sidekeong Tulku Bird Park, Ravangla Buddha Park & Bon Monastery. On arrival check-in to hotel. Evening you can visit Village or leisure. Overnight stay in Martham.

DAY 12: Martham - Gangtok

Early morning, as the village Martam is famous for it's paddy fields where they grow best rice in Sikkim. Even kings were fond of the rice grown in Martam and had paddy field in martam too and take stroll or a hike and explore Martam village which is a very peaceful place. After breakfast, drive to Gangtok which is the fourth and present capital of Sikkim. On the way we visit very famous Rumtek Monastery which belongs to the Karma Kargyupa sect .Monastery was built in 1717 and it was renovated in 1960 by the Sixteenth Gyalwa Karmapa. And after this visit we drive to Gangtok. On arrival at Gangtok, take a sightseeing of some attractions such as Tibetology the museum, Handicraft and Handloom , Do-Drool Chortan, Flower show and Enchey Monastery. Later, can explore the Gangtok Town.

DAY 13: Gangtok - Kalimpong

After breakfast drive to Kalimpong. Kalimpong considered as the oldest town in hills of Darjeeling was once the head quarter of Bhutanese Governor, the word Kalim means “ Minister” and pong is “stronghold”. It is also called Kalibong or the “Black spur” by the locals and to the local Lepcha it is known as Ka (we) –LEM (play) – PONG ( ridge), ” The ridge where we play”. Kalimpong was silk route to the Tibet and also famous center of eastern and central Tibetan wool trade. On arrival, proceed for half day tour of Kalimpong covering  magnificent towering monastery of Geden Tharpa Choeling Monastery & Zang Dog Palri on the Durpin Dara, which has a commanding view of Kalimpong town and the surrounding region. If the day is clear we will be able to see the ranges of Kanchenjunga and also some of the Bhutanese hills. Flower Nursery - Kalimpong is called the "City of Flower" as the climate of this city is ideal for the cultivation for flower and plants. Deolo Hills - the highest point of Kalimpong and it located at the North East of the town. Dr. Graham’s Homes - this famous school was established by a Scottish Missionary – Rev. Dr. John Anderson Graham in 1900 with a mere six orphans. Mangal Dham - An excellent temple complex built in the memory of late Guruji Mangal Dasji and dedicated to Lord Krishna After sightseeing, check-in to your hotel. Explore local market in the evening. Overnight stay at Kalimpong.

DAY 14: Departure: Kalimpong - IXB airport

After breakfast, check out from hotel and transfer to Bagdogra airport (approx. 80 km & 03hours drive).

Terms & Conditions


Booking

Your contract is with Mountain Adventure Tours & Travels. A contract exists between us when we have confirmed you on our tour / hotel booking / or any other travel related services of your choice and we have received your booking request and deposits. All correspondence/s in respect of Tours / Travel Service bookings should be addressed to Mountain Adventure Tours & Travels.

Payments

For the services contracted, 40 % advance payment should be made to hold the booking on a confirmed basis and the balance amount should be paid before commencement of your tour. We hold the right to decide upon the amount to be paid as an advance payment, based on the nature of services and the time left for the commencement of the services.

Payment Options

Payment can be made by Bank Transfer, Cash payment to our office or by Demand Draft / Cheque. All payments should be free and clear of any withholding tax and deduction. Bank charges, if any, for remittance (by remitting bank or by intermediary bank) would be strictly borne by payer.

Rights to amend the itinerary if required

Tour once commenced will strictly go as per the itinerary finalised. In case of events and circumstances beyond our control, we reserve the right to change all or parts of the contents of the itinerary for safety and well being of our esteemed passengers.

Policy Regarding Cancellation / No Show / Early Departure

In case of cancellation of tour/travel services due to any avoidable/unavoidable reason/s we must be informed in writing. Cancellation charges would be effective from the date we receive letter in writing and cancellation charges would be as follows:

  • 30 days & prior to arrival – 10% of the tour/service cost.
  • 20 days to 18 days prior to arrival – 20% of the tour/service cost.
  • 14 days to 16 days prior to arrival – 25% of the tour/service cost.
  • 10 days to 08 days prior to arrival – 50% of the tour/service cost.
  • 07 days & less, prior to arrival or no show – NO REFUND.

Please note – Irrespective of above mentioned cancellations slabs – in case of cancellation of tour services after the booking is made with us – a minimum 10% service charges would be applicable.

Refund

In case you cancel the trip after commencement refund would be restricted to a limited amount that too would depend on the amount that we would be able to recover from the hoteliers we patronize. For unused hotel accommodation, chartered transportation and missed meals etc. we do not bear any responsibility to refund.

Where as in case of Cancellation before the commencement, it will take atleast two weeks time to refund the said amount.

Our Liabilities & Limitations

Please note that after the finalization of the tour/service cost, if there are any hikes in entrance fees of monuments/museums, taxes, fuel cost or guide charges by the Govt. of India, the same would be charged as extra.

Mountain Adventure Tours & Travels act only in the capacity of agent for the hotels, airlines, transporters, railways & contractors providing other services & all exchange orders, receipts, contracts & tickets issued by us are issued subject to terms & conditions under which these services are provided by them.

All itineraries are sample itineraries, intended to give you a general idea of the likely trip schedule. Numerous factors such as weather, road conditions, the physical ability of the participants etc. may dictate itinerary changes either before the tour or while on the trail. We reserve the right to change any schedule in the interest of the trip participants’ safety, comfort & general well being.

Our rates are based on the prevailing rates as negotiated by us with the hotels, airlines etc. Hotels and Airlines retain the right to modify the rates without notice. In case of such changes the rates quoted before the modification, can be changed by us according to the modifications by hotels or airlines. All hotel bookings are based on usual check in and checkout time of the hotels until unless indicated in the itinerary.

We shall not be responsible for any delays & alterations in the programme or expenses incurred – directly or indirectly – due to natural hazards, flight cancellations, accident, breakdown of machinery or equipments, breakdown of transport, weather, sickness, landslides, political closures or any untoward incidents.

We shall not be responsible for any loss, injury or damage to person, property, or otherwise in connection with any accommodation, transportation or other services, resulting – directly or indirectly – from any act of GOD, dangers, fire, accident, breakdown in machinery or equipment, breakdown of transport, wars, civil disturbances, strikes, riots, thefts, pilferages, epidemics, medical or custom department regulations, defaults, or any other causes beyond our control.

We do not have any insurance policy covering the expenses for accident, sickness, loss due to theft, or any other reasons. Visitors are advised to seek such insurance arrangements in their home country. All baggage & personal property/s at all times are at the client’s risk.

Passports & Visas

To travel to India from overseas countries except for the citizen of Nepal & Bhutan, one needs a 06 months valid passport and a valid Visa. And processing of Passport and Visa are not included in the tour cost.

Health

Any person who has a contagious disease is forbidden to travel, any person found during the tour with such a disease will be asked to leave the tour and will have to make their own arrangements to return home.
