In the Mt.& Mount Nun Expedition, Shikhar Travels, one of India’s oldest Adventure travel companies, brings to its guests, a slice of the most ostentatious serenity and natural beauty of Ladakh combined with the expedition to scale the state’s highest summit Mount Nun (7,135 m).

Mt. Nun is also the highest peak in the Zanskar range and is part of the Nun-Kun, a twin-summit mountain massif separated from each other by a high snowy plateau of four kilometers. The Mount Nun-Kun massif is the most stunning peaks of the famous Suru Valley that is adorned with a number of spectacular peaks.

And before you embark on the expedition Shikhar Travels brings you a slice of ancient Buddhist practices through centuries-old monasteries of Hemis, Thiksey and Shey and the experience of exploring the last Shangri La, Ladakh.

DAY 01: ARRIVE DELHI (216 M)

Welcome to India- a country where hospitality is a way of life; to a culture steeped in tradition, a land where history lives in music and dance. Upon arrivel at Indira Gandhi International Airport Delhi, You will meet our representative and warm welcome with traditional manner and garlands, followed by transfer to hotel for check in and overnight stay,

DAY 02: DELHI (IMF VISIT)

Morning after breakfast proceed to Indian mountaineering foundation (IMF) for briefing with the Director of  IMF, Liaison Officer and complete some paperwork. You can also visit the museum and  library of IMF to get more information about Indian himalayas and your expedition, afternoon free for leisure. Meals: Breakfast

DAY 03: DELHI - LEH (3,524 M)

Morning after an early breakfast, we will transfer you to the airport to board a flight to Leh.  Maximum flight duration is 2 Hrs, Shikhar representative also fly with you, and help you to airport check in and boarding, during fly enjoy the fascinating view of Snow coverd mountains of Himachal  Pradesh and Ladakh, NOTE:  ARRIVE LEH AIRPORT YOU NEED TO FILL THE FOREIGNER REGISTRATION FORM TO ENTER LADAKH UNION TERRITORY.  After that drive to hotel check-in at hotel for overnight stay. Rest of the day for Acclimatisation. Later in the day meet and greet with Team Shikhar (Sherpa, Kitchen Staff, Guides), Shikhar Team leader will review your climbing gear. If you need something you can buy from Leh local market, overnight at Hotel.

DAY 04: LEH (3,524 M)

The morning after relaxed breakfast, we will take you to a guided tour of the Monasteries of the Indus Valley. Your excursion would include visits to,

HEMIS (43 KMS. SOUTH OF LEH)

Built on a green hillside surrounded by spectacular mountains, Hemis is the biggest and the most important monastery in Ladakh. It was built in the 17th century by Chapgon Gyalshas and ever since has enjoyed the patronage of the royal family. Hemis is the headquarter of the Drukpa order and all the monasteries throughout Ladakh are administered by it. This wealthiest monastery contains gold statues and stupas decorated with precious stones and many priceless old Thanks.

THIKSEY (25 KMS SOUTH OF LEH)

Thiksey, one of the most imposing monasteries belonging to the 15th century, stands on a crag overlooking the flood plain on the east bank of the Indus. The monastery belongs to Elugpa order (Yellow sect) and is a 12- Storey Monastery painted deep red, ochre and white with typical tapering walls. There is a 15m high Buddha figure at the entrance of the new temple. The layout of the monastery complex resembles the Potala Palace in Lhasa.

SHEY (15 KMS SOUTH OF LEH)

On the East bank of the Indus river lies the beautiful Shey Monastery. Up to the 16th century, it was the royal palace. There is a 17.5 m high blue haired Maitreya Buddha of copper, brass gilded and studded with precious gemstones.Return to your hotel by the later part of the afternoon. Evening you can walk down to the nearest market on your own or spend some time at leisure.

DAY 05: LEH (3,524 M) - KARGIL (2,676 M)

Morning After breakfast check out of hotel and drive to kagil, 230kms drive.  Enroute we will visit alchi monastery, also stop they’re for lunch, Afternoon continue drive to kargil. You will  Witness once again to the Barren Mountain and wilderness, Overnight stay at Hotel in kargil.

NOTE:Kargil is a last place where you can get mobile network and Internet connection.

DAY 06: KARGIL (2,676 M) - TANGOL (3,700 M):

Morning our liaison officer, Shikhar tour leader  will do the equired documents formalities with the local administration.

Later in the day, checkout from hotel and drive to Tangol  Village Approximately 05 hrs drive, Inroute you will see the first view of Mount Nun 7135,  Mount Kun 7077 M, and Stop from taking picture and enjoy local masala tea. Evening reach at Tangol, our team  have setup the camp for your overnight stay in the tents, Evening you can walk around the local village.

DAY 07: TANGOL (3,700 M) - BASE CAMP (4,600 M)

Morning after breakfast from Tangol handover your bags to the Porters, today we climb to moraine and continue to base camp. This involves 5-7 hrs trek. On arrival, establish your base camp and overnight stay at the tent.

DAY 08 - 19: BASE CAMP (4,600 M) - SUMMIT - BASE CAMP

Next 12 day are for Attempt to Submit Mt. Nun (7135 M) and back to Base camp. See the below tentative program after the base camp to summit, It will be change according the weather condition. The Expedition Leader and our Sherpa will try to ensure that the trip runs according to plan

DAY 20: CAMP 2 – BASE CAMP

Morning pack you bag and all the stuff as well as garbage Back to Base Camp. Reach at base camp and celebrate the Success of summit.

DAY 21: BASE CAMP (4,600 M) – TANGOL – KARGIL

Morning handover your bags to the porter and Trek down to Tangol. Reach at village tagol and drive to kargil. Overnight stay in hotel

DAY 22: KARGIL - LEH

Morning after relaxed breakfast Drive to Leh. Overnight stay in the hotel.

DAY 23: LEH - DELHI

Morning drive to Leh Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport  to cath the Flight for Delhi. Reach at delhi airport and drive to IMF for De briefing, you need to summit the report of your experience in Indian himalaya, with your valuable feedbacks and inputs. The , Liaison Officer duty will be over in here, after De briefing drive to hotel for  Overnight stay. Evening enjoy the Farewell Dinner in delhi with the senior Shikhar Team members.

DAY 24: DELHI DEPART

Morning after breakfast check out from hotel, our aiport Transfer  will drop you at Indira Gandhi Airport to Depart for onward destination. It was lovely to having you in India, See you soon.

  •  Complete kitchen and camp equipment including camp staff.

  •  Accommodation in Tents during Approach March to Base Camp and high camp.

  •  Transportation of Members luggage maximum 40 Kgs per person road heads to Base Camp & Base Camp to road head by Pony or porters.
  •  Climbing equipment i.e, Fix rope, Climbing rope, High altitude tent, Carabiner, Snow bar, Ice piton etc.
  •  One time monuments entry fees for sightseeing as per itinerary.
  •  All current taxes including Govt. service tax of 5%

  •  Personal clothing and gears required for climbing (Personal Climbing equipment)
  •  Personal expenses such as table drinks, rooms services items, laundry, telephone calls at hotels or tips etc.
  •  Personal high altitude porter 
  •  Any additional expenses caused by or liability for a disturbance in the trip program due to our circumstances, weather conditions, sickness, natural disasters, riots etc.
  •  Liability for or insurance against injury, loss of life, accidents or loss of goods.
  •  Any Cargo and Shipment Charges (Import and Customs Clearance)
  •  Personal Belongings such as Sleeping Bags, walking sticks etc.

Please ensure your insurance covers you for the heights you are likely to attain, and for a helicopter rescue and when you have chosen and booked your insurance, please provide MOUNTAIN ADVENTURE TOURS AND TRAVELS with your Insurers name, their 24-hour emergency telephone number and your Policy number with them. Remember, your insurance is not worth the paper it's written on if we don't know the details and you need their assistance.

Terms & Conditions


Booking

Your contract is with Mountain Adventure Tours & Travels. A contract exists between us when we have confirmed you on our tour / hotel booking / or any other travel related services of your choice and we have received your booking request and deposits. All correspondence/s in respect of Tours / Travel Service bookings should be addressed to Mountain Adventure Tours & Travels.

Payments

For the services contracted, 40 % advance payment should be made to hold the booking on a confirmed basis and the balance amount should be paid before commencement of your tour. We hold the right to decide upon the amount to be paid as an advance payment, based on the nature of services and the time left for the commencement of the services.

Payment Options

Payment can be made by Bank Transfer, Cash payment to our office or by Demand Draft / Cheque. All payments should be free and clear of any withholding tax and deduction. Bank charges, if any, for remittance (by remitting bank or by intermediary bank) would be strictly borne by payer.

Rights to amend the itinerary if required

Tour once commenced will strictly go as per the itinerary finalised. In case of events and circumstances beyond our control, we reserve the right to change all or parts of the contents of the itinerary for safety and well being of our esteemed passengers.

Policy Regarding Cancellation / No Show / Early Departure

In case of cancellation of tour/travel services due to any avoidable/unavoidable reason/s we must be informed in writing. Cancellation charges would be effective from the date we receive letter in writing and cancellation charges would be as follows:

  • 30 days & prior to arrival – 10% of the tour/service cost.
  • 20 days to 18 days prior to arrival – 20% of the tour/service cost.
  • 14 days to 16 days prior to arrival – 25% of the tour/service cost.
  • 10 days to 08 days prior to arrival – 50% of the tour/service cost.
  • 07 days & less, prior to arrival or no show – NO REFUND.

Please note – Irrespective of above mentioned cancellations slabs – in case of cancellation of tour services after the booking is made with us – a minimum 10% service charges would be applicable.

Refund

In case you cancel the trip after commencement refund would be restricted to a limited amount that too would depend on the amount that we would be able to recover from the hoteliers we patronize. For unused hotel accommodation, chartered transportation and missed meals etc. we do not bear any responsibility to refund.

Where as in case of Cancellation before the commencement, it will take atleast two weeks time to refund the said amount.

Our Liabilities & Limitations

Please note that after the finalization of the tour/service cost, if there are any hikes in entrance fees of monuments/museums, taxes, fuel cost or guide charges by the Govt. of India, the same would be charged as extra.

Mountain Adventure Tours & Travels act only in the capacity of agent for the hotels, airlines, transporters, railways & contractors providing other services & all exchange orders, receipts, contracts & tickets issued by us are issued subject to terms & conditions under which these services are provided by them.

All itineraries are sample itineraries, intended to give you a general idea of the likely trip schedule. Numerous factors such as weather, road conditions, the physical ability of the participants etc. may dictate itinerary changes either before the tour or while on the trail. We reserve the right to change any schedule in the interest of the trip participants’ safety, comfort & general well being.

Our rates are based on the prevailing rates as negotiated by us with the hotels, airlines etc. Hotels and Airlines retain the right to modify the rates without notice. In case of such changes the rates quoted before the modification, can be changed by us according to the modifications by hotels or airlines. All hotel bookings are based on usual check in and checkout time of the hotels until unless indicated in the itinerary.

We shall not be responsible for any delays & alterations in the programme or expenses incurred – directly or indirectly – due to natural hazards, flight cancellations, accident, breakdown of machinery or equipments, breakdown of transport, weather, sickness, landslides, political closures or any untoward incidents.

We shall not be responsible for any loss, injury or damage to person, property, or otherwise in connection with any accommodation, transportation or other services, resulting – directly or indirectly – from any act of GOD, dangers, fire, accident, breakdown in machinery or equipment, breakdown of transport, wars, civil disturbances, strikes, riots, thefts, pilferages, epidemics, medical or custom department regulations, defaults, or any other causes beyond our control.

We do not have any insurance policy covering the expenses for accident, sickness, loss due to theft, or any other reasons. Visitors are advised to seek such insurance arrangements in their home country. All baggage & personal property/s at all times are at the client’s risk.

Passports & Visas

To travel to India from overseas countries except for the citizen of Nepal & Bhutan, one needs a 06 months valid passport and a valid Visa. And processing of Passport and Visa are not included in the tour cost.

Health

Any person who has a contagious disease is forbidden to travel, any person found during the tour with such a disease will be asked to leave the tour and will have to make their own arrangements to return home.
