Shikhar Travels brings you a once in a lifetime experience of conquering Mount Kun peak, and thereby the experience to conquer yourself. Located in Suru Valley in the rugged forbidden landscape of Zanskar, Mount Kun Expedtion offers opportunity to climbers to scale one of the highest peaks of J&K (7, 077 m), and higher than any other peaks in the world outside the great Himalayas!

The second highest peak in the Zanskar range, Mount Kun is part of the twin-summit mountain massifNun-Kun. And before you embark on the expedition, Shikhar Travels takes you on a trail tracking centuries old monasteries of Hemis, Thiksey and Shey and the experience of exploring the last Shangri La, Ladakh.

DAY 01: ARRIVE DELHI

Arrive Delhi Airport Welcome to India- a country where hospitality is a way of life; to a culture steeped in tradition, a land where history lives in music and dance. You will be received at the airport in a traditional manner with garlands and & overnight stay at Hotel.

DAY 2: DELHI

Proceed to IMF for clearance and briefing with Laision Officer.

DAY 3: DELHI - LEH (3,524 M)

Morning after an early breakfast, we will transfer you to the airport to board flight to Leh. Arrive Leh and check-in at Lingzi hotel for overnight stay. Rest of the day at leisure. Overnight at Hotel.

DAY 4: LEH - INDUS VALLEY

Morning after breakfast, we will take you to a guided tour of the Monasteries of the Indus Valley. Your excursion would include visits to,


HEMIS (45 KMS. SOUTH OF LEH)
Built on a green hillside surrounded by spectacular mountains, Hemis is the biggest and the most important monastery in Ladakh. It was built in the 17th century by Chapgon Gyalshas and ever since has enjoyed the patronage of the royal family. Hemis is the headquarter of the Drukpa order and all the monasteries throughout Ladakh are administered by it. This wealthiest monastery contains gold statues and stupas decorated with precious stones and many priceless old Thanks.

THIKSEY (25 KMS SOUTH OF LEH)
Thiksey, one of the most imposing monasteries belonging to the 15th century, stands on a crag overlooking the flood plain on the east bank of the Indus. The monastery belongs to Elugpa order (Yellow sect) and is a 12- Storey Monastery painted deep red, ochre and white with typical tapering walls. There is a 15m high Buddha figure at the entrance of the new temple. The layout of the monastery complex resembles the Potala palace in Lhasa.

SHEY (15 KMS SOUTH OF LEH)
On the East bank of the Indus river lies the beautiful Shey Monastery. Up to the 16th century it was the royal palace. There is a 17.5 m high blue haired Maitreya Buddha of copper, brass gilded and studded with precious gemstones.
Return to your hotel by the later part of the afternoon. Evening you can walk down to the nearest market on your own or spend some time at leisure.

DAY 5: LEH - KARGIL (2,676 M)

After breakfast, 230kms drive to Kargil, Lunch Enroute. Witness once again to the barren mountain and wilderness, Overnight stay at Hotel.

DAY 6: KARGIL - SHAFAT NALA (4,000 M)

Morning after early breakbast drive to Shafat nala via Parkachik. On arrival, cross the Suru Valley and establish your camp at Shafat Nala. Overnight stay in tent.

DAY 7: SHAFAT NALA - BASE CAMP (4,400 M)

Morning after breakfast from Shafat Nala camp, we walk upto moraine camp and continue to base camp. This involves 5-7 hrs walking and crossing rough glacial terrain. Camp for overnight stay.

DAY 8 - 21: BASE CAMP - KUN 7077M SUMMIT - BASE CAMP

Day 08 to 21 for Mt. Kun (7, 077 M) Summit and descend down to Base camp.

Meals: All Meals including high Altitude food

DAY 22: BASE CAMP - SHAFAT NALA

Trek Back to Shafat nala camp. Overnight stay at camp.

Meals: Breakfast + Lunch + Dinner

DAY 23: SHAFAT NALA - KARGIL

Drive back to Kargil. Overnight stay at hotel.

Meals: Breakfast + Lunch + Dinner

DAY 24: KARGIL - LEH

Drive to Leh. Overnight stay at hotel.

DAY 25: LEH - DELHI

Morning check out from hotel and transfer to Leh Airport to catch the flight to Delhi. Arrival in Delhi transfer to IMF Delhi for (De-briefing) with IMF Director. Overnight stay in Hotel.

DAY 26: DELHI - DEPART

Morning after a relaxed breakfast we will take you to International Airport for Departure.

  •  Transportation of Members luggage maximum 40 Kgs per person road heads to Base Camp & Base Camp to road head by Pony or porters.
  •  Climbing equipment i.e, Fix rope, Climbing rope, High altitude tent, Carabiner, Snow bar, Ice piton etc.
  •  One time monuments entry fees for sightseeing as per itinerary.
  •  All current taxes including Govt. service tax of 5%>

  •  Personal clothing and gears required for climbing (Personal Climbing equipment)
  •  Personal expenses such as table drinks, rooms services items, laundry, telephone calls at hotels or tips etc.
  •  Personal high altitude porter 
  •  Any additional expenses caused by or liability for a disturbance in the trip program due to our circumstances, weather conditions, sickness, natural disasters, riots etc.
  •  Liability for or insurance against injury, loss of life, accidents or loss of goods.
  •  Any Cargo and Shipment Charges (Import and Customs Clearance)>
  •  Personal Belongings such as Sleeping Bags, walking sticks etc.

Please ensure your insurance covers you for the heights you are likely to attain, and for a helicopter rescue and when you have chosen and booked your insurance, please provide MOUNTAIN ADVENTURE TOURS AND TRAVELS with your Insurers name, their 24-hour emergency telephone number and your Policy number with them. Remember, your insurance is not worth the paper it's written on if we don't know the details and you need their assistance.

Terms & Conditions


Booking

Your contract is with Mountain Adventure Tours & Travels. A contract exists between us when we have confirmed you on our tour / hotel booking / or any other travel related services of your choice and we have received your booking request and deposits. All correspondence/s in respect of Tours / Travel Service bookings should be addressed to Mountain Adventure Tours & Travels.

Payments

For the services contracted, 40 % advance payment should be made to hold the booking on a confirmed basis and the balance amount should be paid before commencement of your tour. We hold the right to decide upon the amount to be paid as an advance payment, based on the nature of services and the time left for the commencement of the services.

Payment Options

Payment can be made by Bank Transfer, Cash payment to our office or by Demand Draft / Cheque. All payments should be free and clear of any withholding tax and deduction. Bank charges, if any, for remittance (by remitting bank or by intermediary bank) would be strictly borne by payer.

Rights to amend the itinerary if required

Tour once commenced will strictly go as per the itinerary finalised. In case of events and circumstances beyond our control, we reserve the right to change all or parts of the contents of the itinerary for safety and well being of our esteemed passengers.

Policy Regarding Cancellation / No Show / Early Departure

In case of cancellation of tour/travel services due to any avoidable/unavoidable reason/s we must be informed in writing. Cancellation charges would be effective from the date we receive letter in writing and cancellation charges would be as follows:

  • 30 days & prior to arrival – 10% of the tour/service cost.
  • 20 days to 18 days prior to arrival – 20% of the tour/service cost.
  • 14 days to 16 days prior to arrival – 25% of the tour/service cost.
  • 10 days to 08 days prior to arrival – 50% of the tour/service cost.
  • 07 days & less, prior to arrival or no show – NO REFUND.

Please note – Irrespective of above mentioned cancellations slabs – in case of cancellation of tour services after the booking is made with us – a minimum 10% service charges would be applicable.

Refund

In case you cancel the trip after commencement refund would be restricted to a limited amount that too would depend on the amount that we would be able to recover from the hoteliers we patronize. For unused hotel accommodation, chartered transportation and missed meals etc. we do not bear any responsibility to refund.

Where as in case of Cancellation before the commencement, it will take atleast two weeks time to refund the said amount.

Our Liabilities & Limitations

Please note that after the finalization of the tour/service cost, if there are any hikes in entrance fees of monuments/museums, taxes, fuel cost or guide charges by the Govt. of India, the same would be charged as extra.

Mountain Adventure Tours & Travels act only in the capacity of agent for the hotels, airlines, transporters, railways & contractors providing other services & all exchange orders, receipts, contracts & tickets issued by us are issued subject to terms & conditions under which these services are provided by them.

All itineraries are sample itineraries, intended to give you a general idea of the likely trip schedule. Numerous factors such as weather, road conditions, the physical ability of the participants etc. may dictate itinerary changes either before the tour or while on the trail. We reserve the right to change any schedule in the interest of the trip participants’ safety, comfort & general well being.

Our rates are based on the prevailing rates as negotiated by us with the hotels, airlines etc. Hotels and Airlines retain the right to modify the rates without notice. In case of such changes the rates quoted before the modification, can be changed by us according to the modifications by hotels or airlines. All hotel bookings are based on usual check in and checkout time of the hotels until unless indicated in the itinerary.

We shall not be responsible for any delays & alterations in the programme or expenses incurred – directly or indirectly – due to natural hazards, flight cancellations, accident, breakdown of machinery or equipments, breakdown of transport, weather, sickness, landslides, political closures or any untoward incidents.

We shall not be responsible for any loss, injury or damage to person, property, or otherwise in connection with any accommodation, transportation or other services, resulting – directly or indirectly – from any act of GOD, dangers, fire, accident, breakdown in machinery or equipment, breakdown of transport, wars, civil disturbances, strikes, riots, thefts, pilferages, epidemics, medical or custom department regulations, defaults, or any other causes beyond our control.

We do not have any insurance policy covering the expenses for accident, sickness, loss due to theft, or any other reasons. Visitors are advised to seek such insurance arrangements in their home country. All baggage & personal property/s at all times are at the client’s risk.

Passports & Visas

To travel to India from overseas countries except for the citizen of Nepal & Bhutan, one needs a 06 months valid passport and a valid Visa. And processing of Passport and Visa are not included in the tour cost.

Health

Any person who has a contagious disease is forbidden to travel, any person found during the tour with such a disease will be asked to leave the tour and will have to make their own arrangements to return home.
